Welcome back to another week of exploring the depths of my closet! As I continue my journey of curating and rediscovering my wardrobe, I find myself constantly amazed by the versatility and potential of the pieces I already own. This week, I’ve been experimenting with different combinations, breathing new life into familiar items, and making some tough decisions about what no longer fits my style.
From the excitement of styling my silver boots and faux leather skirt in new ways to the realization that some beloved pieces need to find new homes, each day has brought its own fashion revelations. Join me as I share the highs and lows of my sartorial adventures, the joy of preloved treasures, and the ongoing process of refining my collection.
Whether you’re looking for inspiration to shop your own closet or curious about the latest additions and departures in mine, I hope you find something here that resonates with you.
Monday
Does it feel like you have just seen me wearing this or a very similar outfit? Well, you’re right! And that’s honestly the whole idea of shopping your own closet. :)
Here’s another way I wore the skirt recently: go down to my Friday outfit from that week.
And here’s the sweater in another styling: look for the 2 pictures below the photo of my silver boots in the below post.
Do you fancy a silver shoe?
If you’re looking for an edge; that one piece that is able to transform your looks in a contemporary and unexpected way; still feeling easy, maybe even neutral - opt for a silver shoe. Keep on reading and you’ll be in for a little treat of stylings for all kinds of occasions - all with my silver shoes as common denominator.
So, yes, you have already seen the silver boots, that faux leather skirt and of course the latest preloved addition, which is the cross neck jumper in this fuzzy, undefinable green and yellow color. Here paired with my long pearl necklace and a white T-shirt underneath. It’s actually my Tibi snail print T-shirt, but obviously you can’t see that on the pictures.
I love how versatile my wardrobe is becoming. But I’m also discovering more and more items that no longer belong in it. More on this further down.
On Monday, I loved every single minute wearing these clothes and my silver boots. It felt interesting. It felt chill and yet slightly forward thinking.
…which also made me decide to put my Toteme signature silk pants for sale, followed by the Jil Sander wool shirt, that I recently styled on Friday here. Funny that just when I was in the process of writing this last sentence here, I saw Irene posted in her chat asking us, her followers, what our Ins and Outs for 2025 are. I did mention those Toteme silk pants there. Check the thread below for Irene’s response.
So my culling continues. The list is growing…
Here are my current listings on Vestiaire Collective.
Tuesday
Tuesday was rather an uneventful day working from home. Not that I did not have customer and internal meetings and other work-related things to attend to, but other than this it was a quiet day, spent mostly in my home office, that you can actually get a glimpse of here and here.
But hey, I did go out. To post a package with yet another item from my closet that I managed to sell recently. I so much liked the view from above on what I was wearing to get to the local post office that I ended taking a picture of it. Missmatch10 immediately commented on this picture in my Instagram story complimenting the color of my gloves.
And by the way - if you haven’t yet, please do make sure to read my conversation with Missmatch here:
Anyway, this is what was hiding underneath that Max Mara coat (bought 2nd hand): Tibi jogger, slippers and preloved top, older Max Mara long cardigan and a thin dark brown cashmere jumper - mostly just for fun.

Wednesday
Back in the office. It wasn’t supposed to rain, so there was no reason NOT to wear my vintage Dries van Noten jeans. I mean, yes, I could wash them after wearing them if they get dirty, but I’d rather save them for days with dry streets and no mud spitting out from the front wheel of my bike.
It was also the first time in a while I wore this beige blazer from Arket. An old and trusted companion in my closet. As I’ve written before - even though it’s made of wool, it’s the thinner, summer kind of wool so I need to make sure to wear a warm layer underneath when I decide to wear it during the colder months.
I went for a merino wool layer - a V-neck jumper in dark navy together with my preloved lace top that I’ve recently bought at one of the consignment stores in Copenhagen. If you wonder what else I managed to add to my closet from my favorite local 2nd hand boutiques, I go through (almost) every single piece in this post:
Part 2 - Highlights from a year in my closet
Judging by the content of my closet 2024 was a good one. In this 2nd episode of a short series, I’m looking back at my closet and everything that I added or removed from the curation during a whole year. In this post I’m focusing on all the amazing preloved pieces
As to my feet and legs, I always wear merino wool knee high socks or cashmere and wool tights during winter. Nothing else gives that instant warmth and dryness to the skin.
Are you prone to getting a cold easily during the colder months, then switch to merino wool layers closest to your skin. You should quickly feel a difference.
Thursday
The weather changed and so did the colors in my styling. Only the boots created a bright point of interest. Do you also play with this kind of contrasts?
I’ve had these white boots from Proenza Schouler for at least 4 winters now and they keep on being an important tool in my closet. Not only are they chunky, which by the way comes more into light because of the color of the shaft; but they are also white. And a white boot has naturally more space to shine - there is simply more of it than in a loafer or a ballerina. I love wearing mine with blacks and browns.
Here - with my Toteme black cropped wide leg denim, high neck merino jumper from Allude and the Liam blazer from Tibi in brown.
As to my accessories - always with silver hardware - like this Bottega belt or like my jewelry. What do you think of the color of my nail polish? ;) Doesn’t it scream cozy winter vibes?
Friday
Ah! I’m so happy I asked lovely Dalia from Style in Process about her thoughts on a good flat and pointy black boot. I actually remember reading her post on the search for a non-black ankle boot, which I consumed with curiosity. Back then I wasn’t in the lookout for a new pair of ankle boots.
These things come kind of crawling on to me. I simply discover more and more outfits where I struggle with something. When it finally occurs to me what it is, I need to do something about it. Otherwise so many of my clothes will just feel off. Adding that one missing element can be and often is a game changer.
The flat black ankle boot that Dalia recommended is this Bettina model from Paris Texas (here and here). The brand is new to me, which I also appreciate.
I pulled the trigger and when they finally arrived Thursday this week, it only took me a couple of steps with them on my feet at home to know that they were the ones. I love the square pointy toe and the almost flat heel. You could say they are somewhat similar to my Aeyde boots (here on Monday, Thursday and Friday and here).
An outfit a day...
For as long as I can remember, or at least for the past 5-7 years, I’ve been meticulously planning my outfits—if not for the entire work week, then at least for the following day. Call me a control freak, but I simply don’t have the mental bandwidth during the early morning hours to assemble the perfect outfit.
But the Aeyde boots are more cowboy boot like and with the suede material, they don’t feel as sleek and minimalistic.
And sleek and minimalistic is what I need on my feet when my pant is a little bit out there, like these Shon pants from Nili Lotan - here in similar color, here in white, here in darker denim and here and here in brown. I also dream about them in black leather.
….but back to the boots :) I love how they instantly dress my outfit up; make it more put together.
And that toe! I mean, pure perfection. Also, they are super comfy. Although if you have a wider foot, you may want to size up.
I was actually close to buying these boots instead. I know the model very well. I’ve had it already twice before. I found them preloved, so buying them would not feel as an act of wrongdoing, … and then again. This post is also about everything I’m currently culling in my closet. Half of the items were originally bought 2nd hand to start with. Some have served me for a longer time, but some only for a while.
I’ll be honest, I sometimes go down the rabbit hole of adding a lot of 2nd hand things to my closet. Yes, I’m guilty of shopping wild and allowing myself to do this almost in an unconscious way - with the word ‘preloved’ being the only conscious justification of my behavior.
Buying something brand new does not trigger me in the same way. I’m happy about it. But I also want to improve and stop scrolling endlessly through Vinted and Vestiaire Collective or through Instagram profiles of the Copenhagen consignment stores in search of …well, that’s the point! In search of what exactly?!
These boots were a very conscious decision. Maybe it didn’t take me too long to come to the conclusion that I needed a pair just like this and then to add them to my cart or to keep them once I’ve tried them on.
As I mentioned in my very first post on Substack - my closet is a journey. And I’m on a journey to curate it, cull it if needed, shrink or expand according to my needs, moods and life circumstances. A journey is a movement and not a static state. I like traveling and I definitely love ‘traveling’ and rediscovering my own closet.
I love seeing your outfits and reading your thoughts on how you combine them, Ewelina.💕 Also loving your green gloves and nails! I nearly bought green mascara that colour yesterday (but ended up with blue).
Loving your posts and find reading about and seeing your process so helpful in thinking about my own! Your shoe choices stick with me…still thinking about the silver shoe post. And yes - the nail polish is 10/10 cozy winter vibes!
