Another week, another set of outfits pulled straight from the heart of my closet—and influenced, as always, by mood, weather, and as always - my hanger approach to wearing everything in my closet (that I talk about here, here and here).
Let’s get into it.
Monday
I wanted to give these vintage Dries van Noten ecru jeans another chance. They used to be a go-to, but after I started lifting heavier and my butt got stronger (hello, glutes!), they’ve been feeling... tight. Not in a “time to donate” way, but in a “does this still work for me?” way.
If you read this post, you’ll know I’ve been thinking a lot about how our bodies change and how clothes need to keep up - not the other way around. So this was my experiment in making the jeans work with me, not against me.
I paired them with a fitted navy tee to keep the vibe relaxed, added a lightweight nylon blazer for structure, and finished the look with my pointed yellow flats and layered tinner silver necklaces in different lengths. It felt good. The look is perfect, intentional - and like a small win in the ongoing conversation between body and wardrobe.
Tuesday
Still trying to make this skirt feel less “I’m here for the Q2 strategy meeting.” It’s cut like a classic office skirt—neat, tailored, a little too efficient—but I’m stubborn. I like the shape, and I want it to work outside of a corporate context.
The material is undeniably businesslike—smooth, structured. Which is probably why I loved wearing it to conferences last summer: it made me feel sharp and put-together without trying too hard.
The skirt is also surprisingly comfortable. The fit is easy, and the skirt is deconstructed in a way that makes it quietly cool. To loosen it up for everyday wear, I paired it with my vintage slouchy graffiti t-shirt and silver Mary Jane’s.
Maybe it’s the vintage thin and flowy blazer from Dries van Noten that is working against and not for me here.
Still a work in progress, but I’m getting there.
Upon coming home from work I immediately changed the skirt to my Nili Lotan Shon pants in grey-green and my preloved cotton utility jacket from Dondup. The Mary Jane’s also had to go. Instead I put on my new strappy sandals.
Can you see it in my face how happy this late afternoon outfit made me instantaneously?
Wednesday
I’m so happy I’ve found what I was looking for - a light, summer bomber jacket that I can wear as a short blazer kind of thing.
By now you’ve probably noticed that I’m not really a cardigan girl, so for layering and that extra warmth I will wear a blazer or a jacket like this one on any given day.
I paired it here with an old silk t-shirt to create just a little bit of that friction that everybody is talking about and craving.
I’ve added my preloved faux leather A-line skirt, adding yet another material to the mix. And then the snake slingbacks are the icing on top of this neutral and black styling.
This is the bomber jacket from behind.
I LOVE IT! :)
Thursday
This was the time to wear my classic, fitted black blazer, that I’ve had for years after all. I may have had a moment in time when I considered culling it, because of all of its characteristics I’ve just mentioned above.
But I’m happy I kept it.
It’s not to be used very often, but when I finally do, especially to create contrast in the fit, when my bottom, like in this case, is a wider or oversized piece.
I paired it with a simple, also fitted striped tank top and a pair of my preloved cotton pants with somewhat balloon, wide leg shape. The belt is new but found 2nd hand.
It belongs to a whole suit …but more about it when I style them together one day ;)
What you see on my feet are the Aeyde pointy shoes again… and again.
Friday
Friday was all about pieces and vibes you see here a lot. The flowy pleated skirt, the oversized light blue shirt, the roomy cotton utility jacket in washed black color and the snake slingbacks.
I love the proportions. I love the colors and the little friction between the materials.
I wonder which shoe you prefer this outfit with. I personally preferred the snake, so the above is my full look that day.
…but the yellow shoe works here too, right?
Here are also many of the things I’ve recently sold via either Vinted or Vestiaire Collective:
Tibi Confetti Shrunken Crewneck Pullover
Yes, I’ve finally found the right buyer! I’m so happy the pullover is already on the way to its new owner where I’m sure it will be loved and cherished.
Celine phantom leather tote
I’ve used and probably also slightly abused it, so it was time to let it go before it was no longer resellable.
Beige cotton A line skirt from Rue de Tokyo
I think I like A-line skirts much more malleable than a stiff cotton fabric could do.
Proenza Schouler sheer red flats
I hope the new owner does not find them too tight in the elastic, like I did….
The Row vest that I bought because it was The Row and not because I needed a wool vest
An old pair of Flattered slip-on’s
I’ve used them quite a lot, but I’ve never really enjoyed wearing them. Shoes like these simply fall off my feet and to keep them in place I often end up with blisters.
Does it ever happen to you too?
A classic trench from a Max Mara like Polish brand (Patrizia Aryton) that served me well but was after all too small
A pair of signature silk pants from Toteme that I loved and used a lot
An old pair of grey suede flats from a Danish brand Yvonne Kone
It was time for them to go. Maybe the color was simply too dull for my liking.
And finally - just yesterday - I sold this Saint Laurent tote bag. I used it quite a lot in the beginning but with time it started to bother me, as this is a medium model where you cannot fit a computer
I really enjoy the rotation in my closet…..
What about you?
That’s a wrap of week 20. I’m feeling more sure than ever that getting dressed with intention doesn’t have to mean reinventing the wheel every day. Some weeks are for bold experiments; others are for editing, refining, repeating.
Thanks for reading - and as always, let me know which outfit you liked most (or which one you’d remix for yourself!).
With love,
Ewelina
Wednesdays outfit is pure minimalist perfection! I love the jacket so much. I have a similar one so am looking forward to getting inspiration from you!
Thursday’s outfit is my favourite! But they’re all lovely!💕
