Great piece! I also followed Tibi and Amy frequently for half a year or so. The good-icks were very interesting and I learnt a lot of new to me things that I maybe unconsciously already knew, but it was great to get it in words. However, after I while I found myself offended by Amy's way of saying that something was good of bad and when she promised in advance that something would be good. I felt that I want to decide myself if something (like a style class) is good or not. I also felt that all those women bying the Tibi items were quite looking the same to me. I decided to quit following the style classes and I didn't miss them. I only own a pair of coincidently secondhand plaid boots from Tibi and can't give my opinion about the clothing otherwise than that the brand, to me, feels interesting and creative but higly overpriced...

Thank you Missmatch for your honest opinion. For me it’s also first of all about the knowledge. And yay! I’ve learnt a lot.

And Amy did have a period where the offending was just too much. I think somebody must have told her that this as it did get better after a short while.

I like the whole package around Tibi - the learning, the clothes, the community, the events. 🙌🏻

Thank you for responding to my request! It was so much fun to read about your journey into the Tibi world. The Stella pants looks amazing, so I easily understand why they are your favourite. Which of the lessons about styling would you say influenced the way you dress the most?

I'm slowly getting into the style classes and there are lots of interesting concepts - some that works for me and others that don't, and that's completely fine.

Hope you enjoying the Faroe Islands.

You are more than welcome, Sigrid. I really enjoyed writing this piece. ☺️ as to the lessons they are really the 3 I mention in my post.

If you are a ‘beginner’, I’d say focus on identifying your 3 adjectives. And then the antonym approach, which you will find in ‘The Good Ick’ library on Tibi’s website.

I would also recommend reading The Good Ick first, before proceeding with Style Classes. There is a lot of vocabulary and styling principles that are explained there.

Good luck and see you soon! 🙌🏻

I love this post! You know I’m a fan :) I also love that you highlighted what ‘gets’ people. If you don’t love the clothes; you’ll at least love the principles. So much goodness here.

Great piece! I love how you distilled some of the core concepts. I have dipped my toe into the Tibi waters and I find the brand endlessly fascinating. I also like the way they utilize synthetic materials, to be honest.

But I meant to say, I’ve learned so much from the brand and style classes as you have. Between Tibi and Allison Bornstein style principles, I am a lot more intentional about what I consume online and how I shop.

Yeees! I too desperately wanted the clothes themselves but all the learning I’ve acquired while patiently waiting for my first Tibi piece is priceless!

My favourite Tibi pieces are generally anything nylon: the jogger, pull on skirt, asymmetrical skirt, Stella. I’ve tried the Liam blazer and it’s just too much for my frame even when I sized down. That was a hard and expensive lesson because I paid full retail plus duties and even paid to have the sleeves shortened because they were so long.

Yes to anything nylon!!! And such a pity with the Liam! 😭 it is an investment, indeed! Have you tried selling it via Tibi.fans?

I have a friend in Canada who runs an online resale site called The Sequel Sale so I sold it through her.
